ISSA TURKEY\ Museum of Underwater Sculpture in the Mediterranean Sea

The '4th International North Aegean Gömeç Sculpture Symposium' as well as ISSA Turkey lasted for one month 

and ended on November 11. The closing event was held at the Nuri Bozyel Culture Center. The works, which 

emerged with the different approaches of 6 sculptors to the theme of children, were exhibited for a while 

before being lowered under seawater.

The 'International North Aegean Gömeç Sculpture Symposium' was organized under the operations of Balıkesir 

Metropolitan Municipality, Gömeç Municipality, Burhaniye Municipality, Marmara Adalar Municipality, Burhaniye 

Chamber of Commerce, Southern Marmara Development Agency and Çanakkale 18 Mart University,

This symposium featured works made by 1 Ukrainian, 2 Russian, 1 Moldovan and 2 Turkish sculptors under 

the theme of "Child". At the closing event, the sculptors; Certificates and gifts were presented to Hakan Şengönül, 

Serhii Sbitniev, Mikhail Bobolev, Vasilisa Chugunova, Anna Sosenskaia, Svetlana Melnichenko. In addition to 

Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Ferit Gündoğdu; Gömeç Mayor Melih Bağcı, 18 March 

University Faculty of Marine Sciences and technologies Dean Murat Yiğit, Burhaniye Chamber of Commerce 

President Hasan Varol as well as other protocol members, sculpture artists and attendees showed the program.
